This spring & summer, Moms Help Moms is focused on literacy! We plan a book swap this summer.

We are also hosting two writing contests, one for K - 8th, and another for college-bound teens.

Here is information for younger children:

We are doing a writing contest for kiddos to engage academically as we come to the end of the year! We'll have 3 categories:

K - 2nd: no limit on pages. Prize is $15 Amazon giftcard

3 - 5th: 4 pages. Prize is $15 Amazon giftcard

6 - 8th: 6 pages. Prize is $20 Amazon gift card

Mike Mann, Co-President, is an award winning screenwriter and will be judging the contest! We'll also announce 2nd and 3rd place, who will receive certificates.

Contest is personally sponsored by the Manns to encourage literacy. This isn't paid for by the nonprofit funds.

Email submissions to momshelpmomscolumbus@gmail.com by April 1st for consideration

Here is information for teens:

If your child is currently applying to colleges, or plans to apply to colleges soon, we want to help!! We're holding a contest for college applicants! Help your child get ahead!!!

Winners receive:

* Feedback on their college application essay from a qualified member of our staff. Mike is an award winning writer, and several of us hold graduate-level degrees (please see our resumes on our website for details). Danielle, Dani, Mike and I will serve as the panel of judges.

* A professional letter of recommendation (we'd like to chat with you/your child on the phone to make sure our reference is personal).

* A professional reference.

* They can include their "win" on applications for college and jobs!

* A personal review of their LinkedIn profile or resume, if applicable (it probably isn't, but we're offering).

If this will help your child (it will), submit their college entrance essay (or a draft/sample) to momshelpmomscolumbus@gmail.com no later than April 1st.

If you need ideas, find sample questions here: https://www.princetonreview.com/.../application-essay-topics

Typical length is 500 words.

We hope you'll join us in promoting literacy in Columbus this spring!
